Our History

Ayurveda meets Science.
A new perspective towards the future

Established in 2017, Patanjali Research Foundation, governed by Patanjali Research Foundation (Trust), is a fully integrated innovative Research Foundation to conduct modern experimentation on Ayurvedic medicines for the treatment of various diseases. The institute has a diversified research portfolio and a substantial clinical testing pipeline. Our main focus is mainly in herbal Research and Development arena.

Our central research theme is to study the efficacy of herbal and natural formulations on their medicinal, therapeutic and protective role against various human health diseases. There are nearly 300++ Scientists hired all over India and some with global experiences outside India dedicating their research work in Patanjali Research Foundation.

We wanted to leverage our ancient knowledge; couple it with modern technologies and deliver Ayurveda to the world – in a language and format that they understand, follow and accept.

Located in Haridwar (Gateway of God), an ancient holy city in Uttarakhand, in the northern part of India; Patanjali Garden is also situated in the vicinity. It houses nearly 1,000 medicinal plants, found mostly all over India.

Patanjali Research Foundation has been duly accorded and certified as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India, under the scheme on Recognition of Scientific and Industrial Research Organizations (SIROs), 1988.

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has accessed and accredited the laboratories at Patanjali Research Foundation in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard: General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (Certificate Number TC 725).

Committee for the Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA)

The Animal House Facility of In-vivo laboratory at Patanjali Research Foundation is registered with CCSEA (Committee for the Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals), Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, New Delhi, Government of India.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Drug Discovery and Development Division of Patanjali Research Foundation is accredited by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, for Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC).

Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)

Drug Discovery and Development Division of Patanjali Research Foundation has been authorized by Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) for chemical analyzing in food, agriculture, and supplements.

National Bee Board (NBB)

Patanjali Research Foundation has been inducted as a life member, under the corporate member category, of National Bee Board (NBB) under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

Index Herbarium, New York Botanical Garden, USA

Patanjali Research Foundation Herbarium (PRFH) is accredited by Index Herbarium, New York Botanical Garden, USA. More than 13,500 specimens of plants were collected from different parts of India.
